Valentine is yet another song Al wrote for his wife Barbi.

"This is my
Layla - that's the easiest way to describe the song.  Last Christmas
Samantha got me
Eric Clapton's autobiography.  The book is fascinating.
After many years of listening to Clapton only casually, the book prompted me
to listen closely to lots of his music.  I decided to write a Layla-like epic rock
ballad with a bluesy verse, slightly more melodic chorus, Beatles-type
backgrounds, and a long guitar solo to fade.

"Above all, I love the song because it is a statement from me to my wonderful
wife that will last forever."

Valentine marks
another milestone for Free Verse.  It's the first song for
which we've posted a video on the internet!

Lyrics
Long before I saw you
I knew somewhere
You were there for me

On the day I found you
I knew I had seen
The most beautiful thing

And in those early days we shared
Every thought and every prayer
And in those early days of love
Felt the earth below
And Lord above

Lord above
Lord above...

When you first held my hand
Knew that you’d be mine
Till the end of time

And when you hold me tight
I know this crazy
World will turn out right
If for a day we lose our way
Can’t figure out just what to say
Let’s go back to that special place
When I first looked upon your face

On your face
On your face
Lord above...

Could you be my
Would you be my
Baby be my
Valentine

Could you be my
Would you be my
Darling be my
Valentine
