Tic Toc is a straight blues-based rock song. The song is about someone
watching the clock "tic-toc" as he waits for a loved one to love him back.
"If you're into rock guitar this is the song on which I play my most-pure rock
solos," says Al.
"This might be my worst song, artistically because it's a terribly cliche tune,"
says Al. "On the other hand, I'm very proud of it because I really let it all
hang out on my singing. That's terrifying for me. Here's something I think is
funny about this song. I recorded it in a garage where I guarantee my
neighbors could hear me singing. I wonder what in the world they thought as I
cranked the vocals out as loud as I possibly could. I was scared to run into
them after that in fear they'd say, 'Man you better have a day job.'"

Dreams are sold
I'm ticking, I'm tocking
I'm kicking for you
I'm wishing, I'm watching
I search like a fool
Don't fear what you hear
What you feel
What you see
You run from yourself
When you're running
From me
Europa spins
Atlantis falls
Nations sin
Armies stall
I'm ticking, I'm tocking
I'm kicking for you
I'm knicking, I'm knocking
I fight you a duel
You lace in your drawer
You cup on your shelf
You flower in doom
Let the light raise your bloom
Come quench the fire
Come sing my name
Not everyone's desire's
Someone else's pain
Just take what you see
Conquer what you tame
I'll turn those secret dreams
Into some very real games
Flowers burn, pages turn
Chapters told, dreams unfold
